Karen Hornbostel, Founder
Karen is Summit Cancer Solution's founder. She was a four-time breast cancer survivor who has made it her life's mission to help other survivors heal and become empowered through exercise.
Karen Hornbostel was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1993. At that time she was already a national cycling champion and an exercise physiologist. When she asked her doctor if it was OK to exercise, she was told yes, but the doctor couldn't provide any information about cancer and exercise. Karen made it her life's passion to help other cancer survivors regain strength and confidence through exercise and created Summit Cancer Solutions. Since Summit was created in 2002, over 1,200 survivors have benefited and been empowered by the program. Karen lost her 13 year battle with breast cancer in October of 2006.
